The Saffron Throw is our signature piece symbolising the rich culture of Cambodia with layers of Saffron colour tone.  It is an art piece born from the Khmer (Cambodian) culture, an exquisite combination of native animism, Buddhism and Hinduism.

Our sustainable, ethical and design-conscious saffron throw is 100% handmade by skilled artisan women in Cambodia. This unique saffron colour brings positive, empowering energy yet calmness to your home. The texture is rich and heavyweight, and naturally soft on the skin. Ideal for design lovers who seek for a statement home décor.

Story Behind:

In rural Cambodia, surrounded by rice fields, artisan women spin, dye and weave threads on wooden looms. Our sustainable and ethical throw is handmade by skilled artisans in a rural village in the northwestern province of Cambodia. The artisan women source the finest sustainable Fairtrade cotton from small farmers in Laos, as most of the cotton fields were destroyed during the civil wars in Cambodia. Each throw bears the handwritten signature of an artisan who wove the fabric. With your purchase, you support our weavers, small farmers and small businesses who act sustainably and ethically and contribute to the promotion of the community. Immerse yourself in sustainable quality - every signature tells a story!

Did You Know?

In Cambodia, the colour saffron is associated with Buddhism because Buddhist monks wrap the saffron-coloured cloth around their bodies. The colour is thought to be nearly identical to the original robes of 25 centuries ago, the time of the historical Buddha when the colour was available easily from plants and herbs such as turmeric and saffron. The colour saffron has a variety of meanings - it symbolises simplicity and detachment from materialism. It is also the colour of Mother Earth. For Cambodian people, it is the colour that represents Buddhism bringing peace to society.
