Our most elegant rattan trays are handmade in partnership with artisans in a small village outside of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. 17 selected master artisan women weave those exclusively fine trays, expressing the beauty of nature. Even the back is sophisticatedly designed, displaying simple, dignified beauty that one cannot find in the mass market. The magic of those thoughtfully handmade trays is that they continue to inspire you to be mindful and simplify everyday life. You don’t believe us? The trays come in three different sizes in one set.

- Product care: Spot clean only. Please always handle them carefully, using two hands to carry. Do not place them near a fire, keep them dry and out of direct sunlight to avoid colour fading. Handcrafted items are sensitive and need extra care and thoughtfulness.
This product is handwoven by highly skilled artisans. Any slight imperfection is not a defect due to the manufacturing technique. Please celebrate the uniqueness of human and slow-made pieces.
Rattan - A Gift From Nature
Rattan is a naturally renewable climbing palm and one of the most important sustainably growing materials in Cambodia. Its easy accessibility to even the poorest families makes rattan an economical choice for them. Harvesting rattan is labour-intensive and risky as farmers have to go deeper into the tropical rainforest where dangerous animals live. In the extremely globalised economy, however, farmers and rattan makers who are at the bottom of the value chain are often underpaid.
Fair and Sustainable Partnership With Artisans
Each of our rattan trays was ethically handcrafted by master artisans using locally sourced rattan plants. Kaikô purchases them directly from our artisan partner in Cambodia at a fair, respected price justified by their high quality and rare delicacy of the weaving - which we can hardly find in the mass market.
